St. Yehnis Kame Church
The Church of Saint Yehnis Kame
This church is located towards the south of St. Mary (The Cave) church, and it has two sanctuaries. The first sanctuary is named after St. Yehnis Kamé (The main saint of the monastery). The second sanctuary is named after St. Yehnis El-Kaseir (literally; the short). This saint was also known as the son of obedience, since he was the disciple of an Abbott. He obeyed his abbot father who asked him to plant a stick in the desert. He asked him to water the stick every day; indeed, St. Yehnis obeyed, and God looked upon his obedience. The stick miraculously grew into a tree, and this tree is known as the tree of obedience.
