From the sayings of SAINT JOHN CLIMACUS about TOLERATING INSTULTS AND TRIALS

From the sayings of SAINT JOHN CLIMACUS about TOLERATING INSTULTS AND TRIALS

“Drive far away that hound of hell which comes at the time of your deepest mourning and whispers that God is neither merciful nor compassionate.  You will find, if you take the trouble, that before you sinned, he was assuring you that God is loving, compassionate, and forgiving.”

“Let us charge into the good fight with joy and love without being afraid of our enemies.  Though unseen themselves, they can look at the face of our soul, and if they see it altered by fear, they take up arms and against us all the more fiercely.  For the cunning creatures have observed that we are scared.  So let us take up arms against them courageously.  No one will fight with a resolute fighter.”

“Blessed are those who hunger for hardship and thirst for dishonor, for they shall be filled with the food whereof there can be no satiety.”
