From the sayings of ABBA ANTHONY about Humility

From the sayings of ABBA ANTHONY about Humility

Abba Anthony said, 'I saw the snares that the enemy spreads out over the world and I said groaning, "What can get through such snares?" Then I heard a voice saying to me, "Humility"'

“…The devil is afraid of us when we are humble and good…”

My sons, why did our Lord Jesus Christ to tie a towel around his waist and rolled up His sleeves in order to wash the feet of His disciples?  Is it not to each us how to be humble?  Anyone who wants to be first cannot do so unless they are humble.

The best thing a person can do is to confess his sins before God, and to hold himself accountable for his wrongs – even until his last breath.

Humility is to see everyone better than yourself, and to know deep in your heart that you are more of a sinner than they are.

Learn to love humility, for it is humility that covers over all sins.

Do not convince yourself that you are wise, so that your hard word does not pass in vein, and your ship will pass by empty.

Cast pompousness away from you, and consider everyone to be more righteous than yourself.
